The role of Gatekeeper at Life Gate
At Life Gate, we have adopted the use of a “Gatekeeper.” The reason for this has nothing to do with controlling who is allowed to speak but rather to provide covering to the person who is feeling a need to release. Generally this will be Pastor Michael or Pastor Glenda.
Gatekeepers in the Old Testament were revered at the same level as priests, singers, doorkeepers, and other temple servants. They were charged with the protection of the city. It was up to them who was allowed in and out of the gate and they needed to be alert and trustworthy. Ultimately it is the Lord who helps us and we rely on Him as David did.
“God, give me grace to guard my lips from speaking what is wrong.”
Psalms 141:3 TPT
There are also times where Holy Spirit is weaving a tapestry between multiple people and the Gatekeeper is then responsible for directing that release.
Why does that happen? Why can’t it just come from one person?
“Our present knowledge and our prophecies are but partial,”
1 Corinthians 13:9 TPT
Paul is eluding to more than just prophecy in a worship service here, but the statement still bares fruit to this conversation. It’s also how scripture was formed. Many different authors all pointing to Jesus. So sometimes multiple people will get a download from the Lord and it causes a ripple effect among others who also operate in that gift.
A common sense explanation is that what is being released might be for one or two others in the service but someone else needs the second part or the third part. And God loves us so much that He will stir up several vessels to release at the same time.
